The Chicago Marathon is an annual marathon distance race in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The official name is the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. About 53,000 athletes participate in the 42.195-kilometer marathon and satellite races (26,062 runners finished the 2021 Marathon).

The Chicago Marathon is a member of the Abbot World Marathon Majors league, one of the six prestigious starts in the series along with Boston Marathon (Boston Marathon), London Marathon (TCS London Marathon), Berlin Marathon (BMW Berlin Marathon), New York Marathon (TCS New York City Marathon), Tokyo Marathon (東京𰷞ラソン, Tokyo Marathon). Finishers of 5 or 6 of these marathons can find their names on the series website in the Hall of Fame.

The Chicago Marathon has World Athletics Elite Platinum Label Race status with the International Association of Athletics Federations.

At the 2019 Chicago Marathon, Kenyan Brigid Kosgei set the world record for the women’s marathon distance at 2:14:04.

Bank of America Chicago Marathon 42.195 kilometers

The 42.195 kilometre Chicago Marathon starts in three waves at 7:30, 8:00 and 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2022 from Columbus Drive to Monroe Street in Grant Park.

Participants must be at least 16 years old on the date of the race.
Abbott Chicago 5K Run

The 5K race starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from Columbus Avenue in Grant Park.

Participants’ ages: 8 years old or older on the date of the race.

Registration cost: 35 $.

Chicago Marathon Course

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2021 course is a single lap race through the streets and parks of the Windy City.

The route crosses the Chicago River six times: over the William P. Fahey Bridge, the Bataan-Corregidor Memorial Bridge, the Marshall Suloway Bridge (aka La Salle Street Bridge), the Wells Street Bridge, the Monroe Street Bridge and the Cermak Road Bridge.

The start and finish of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2021 are in Chicago’s largest park, Grant Park. The start of the race is at the intersection of Columbus Drive and Monroe Street. The finish line is near the start on Columbus Drive just south of Balbo Drive.

All our routes are well known to us, and instructors who work on them, either laid the track themselves, or are constantly improving it, adding something new and interesting. We try to compose a route so that the trip would be as accessible as possible to all lovers of active recreation in the mountains, regardless of their physical fitness or income. Geography offered by us hiking, trekking, expeditions, climbs and active tours is very wide and constantly growing. Now our club organizes active recreation in 40 countries on five continents.
